Eight Places to Get Birria Tacos around Orlando

Where can you find delicious birria tacos in Orlando? That’s a loaded question because everyone will have a different take. As usual, my stance is never to declare what reigns supreme in any food category but to share options with you that I have had only good experiences with.

For me, good birria comes down to three essential things: the taco shouldn't be overly soggy and needs to hold firm to the consommé dunk. The consommé itself needs to add flavor, not be the ONLY flavor, so those meats still need to be seasoned and tender from slow cooking in the right spices. Thirdly, it shouldn't be overly greasy, which can happen with too much cheese or oily consommé.

Orlando continues to boast a vibrant food scene with numerous spots offering good birria taco options. You just have to find your favorite.

Antojitos Locos

From food truck, to gas station, to now it’s own brick and mortar shop, Antojitos Loco is a favorite of many over in Ocoee. The first trip I ever consisted of some pretty perfect bites. Since then things have gotten a little oilier in past visits, but the flavor is still usually spot on.

Pass Progressive

This small pick up only spot in Altamonte is usually pretty solid, although it can lean greasy. My favorite item is actually their take on a crunchwrap, but if you are looking for Birria, the consommé is flavorful.

QuesA Loco

Another food truck to brick and mortar story here, actually now with two locations! One off Fairbanks and one in Apopka. I’ve enjoyed their birria since the food truck days (and their agua frescas). The flavor has sometimes gone a little weak depending on the visit, so consistency may be a small issue, but overall these had been pretty solid.

Address: 971 W Fairbanks Ave, Orlando, FL 32804 or Address: 2107 E Semoran Blvd STE A, Apopka, FL 32703

Fui Yo Mexicana

The first time I had Fui Yo Mexicana was at a food truck event. I got them hot off the flat top, and watched as they sprinkled cheese all around each tortilla to give it that crunch layer of goodness. The tortilla and the cheese blanket created a hearty shell that didn’t dissolve into mush once dipped in the consommé. I haven’t tried them since they moved into their new location inside the Great Southern Food Box, but I’m hoping it’s still as good as my first experience.

Hunger Street

In all my Hunger Street outings, one thing I can say that has never faltered is their flavors. If you want more of a kick in your birria I would suggest their birria machete. The slow cooked meat is stuffed into the machete, which is an oversized hand made landrace corn quesadilla filled with Oaxaca cheese. The spices really come thru in this one.

La Eskinna

It use to be the only way you could get La Eskinna was driving down a long dusty road that seemed like it was going nowhere to find their food truck. If you like an adventure in South Orlando you can still do that, but they have a new location on International Drive where you can get some birria tacos. At $3.99 each, they aren’t “cheap”, but they have always been full of flavor for me.

Address: 1845 Saturn Blvd, Orlando, FL 3283

FRUTA MIX

Fruta Mix located in Ocoee is a Mexican restaurant in Ocoee that has a full menu of eats along with deserts like raspados, paletas, and several flavors of agua fresca. I honestly love their birria, it’s always flavorful without being overly greasy. I’ve seen some reviews claiming the opposite, but I’ve never had a bad experience here.

Address: 253 Ocoee Apopka Rd, Ocoee, FL 34761

1983 Birria

So I’ve only had Birria1983 once, and that was back in their ghost kitchen days. My one time ordering them I will say they were quite greasy before I dipped them in the consomee

Places I still need to try:

La Takeria Tacos

Simmer Down Food Truck

Soluna Tacos

Tamale Co

El Burro Loco

La Patrona Food Truck

Fiesta Mexico - love their tacos but haven’t had their birria

Le Taco Trap
